Find a Job in Singapore Through Agency

Dear Friends...

I know two Agencies that can help you land a job here in Singapore. One Agency is offering a Salary Deduction Scheme but would need you to be a College Graduate (min 4-Year Course) for S-Pass working Visa application. The good thing about this is that you don't need to produce a huge amount of money to secure a job only your air ticket which is more affordable now that we have budget airlines. The other one needs a SGD500 security deposit non-refundable.But they will only ask for this when there are offers and a sure post. They will ask you to sign the agreement after receiving the money so that they can process the rest of your paper. The balance of SGD3000 will then be paid when you arrive in Singapore. This Agency requires a non-degree holder/2-yr course graduate under Work Permit Visa. The Salary will range from 1200-2000 or more depending on the position. Some jobs offer free food and housing like waiters and cooks. But some would just offer food. Pls check my other posts regarding Living expenses in Singapore.

In a nutshell, room rental can range from SGD400-600 for commom room single occupancy. Its more practical to share a room for SGD200-300 per month. For food, if you are going to eat out it would cost you SGD3-4.00 per meal. Transportation varies depending on how far and transfers it would require you to reach your work place. But it could average to about SGD5.00 for a two-way trip. This gives you an idea on how to calculate your monthly budget for food, rent and fare allowance and helps you decide if the salary offered is enough.

Was walking around China Square and came across this shop and it really caught my eyes because they specialize in cleaning your stained Designer Bags! They have special machines for cleaning your delicate bags, now you don't have to worry about getting that stain off your fav accessory.

The prices for cleaning are affordable too, considering they can save your precious. Wallets are priced at SGD 20.00, Small Bags for SGD 35.00, Medium size bags SGD50.00 and Large size (more than 30cm x 30cm) for SGD 60.00. For shoes it varies from SGD 8.00-20.00 including boots. They call the procedure
Bio-cleaning and polishing.

They are also selling pre-owned designer bags like Coach, Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and alot more. But my brand new Coach bags are still cheaper!

They can also color your heavily stained, scratched or color deoxidized leather bags/shoes to bring back its original beauty. They use spray coloring in layers to create an even fine surface finish. It can be done on the following materials:

CONSUMER PROTECTION- Where to file a Complaint against a Business/Retailer

If you are an unsatisfied consumer of a product or service, you can file a complaint against the business or the retailer through a non-profit and non-government organization called CASE (Consumer Association of Singapore). They help protect consumer's interest through information and education. They handle 'Consumer to Business' complaints.Filing of complaints can be done online. They will assist you in resolving issues with retailers, they also have a Mediation Centre to encourage both consumer and retailer to resolve the issues amicably among themselves voluntarily.

If you are a tourist, you can write directly to the Singapore Tourism Board for any dispute with a retailer or vendor. My cousin visited Singapore a few years back and bought a digital camcorder. She was made to believe it is compatible with the electronic system in Manila. When it proved otherwise, she quickly emailed the Singapore Tourism Board and got a prompt response that the matter will be resolved. And as promised , after a few days the retailer wrote her to send back the camcorder and will be replaced at no cost.

If you are a  tourist in Singapore, you are entitled to a GST (Goods and Services Tax) free shopping. Whenever you shop for an item $100 (SGD) and above, keep the receipt or ask the vendor to issue you a GST refund form. You can then refund the GST at the Airport's designated GST Refund Counters near the check-in counters by showing all your GST refund forms.
